Usability Testing
Usability testing is among the most powerful activities in the UX toolkit. Testing early in the design process limits post development effort. It is a structured one-on-one interview where the participant works through a number of tasks with the application and is observed while doing so.
- These sessions are recorded to capture the behaviour of the participant during the session and for further analysis afterwards.
- A trained facilitator presents each task, encourages participants to express what they are thinking during a task and records qualitative information sometimes using short questionnaires and always by capturing key verbal remarks.
- Afterwards, the results are analyzed to identify root causes of any usability issues that the participants may have encountered and propose prioritized recommendations for improvements to the website.
